Mediation Awareness Week-UK (MAW) will run from Saturday 8 October until Friday 14 October inclusive. It’s aim is to promote all forms of mediation – civil & commercial, family, intergenerational, workplace, neighbourhood & community, peer, restorative justice , consumer, SEN and (if I have my way here in Ipswich) adult & elder.

A charity has been formed called Mediation Awareness UK which will promote and assist in organising events around the UK covering all aspects of mediation. It  will be launched at London Mediators Day which will be held on Saturday 8th October.  Other scheduled events include mock mediations (commercial and family). The organisers hope to attract organisations that can benefit from use of mediation services rather than hold events that are attended just by mediators.

This is a link to an embryonic web-site (created by the indefatigable friend of mediators, Paul Gadd of Protocol IT) which is currently being populated with information about events and supporters:  http://www.mediationawarenessweek.org.uk

Mediation really needs this initiative. As mediators, we need to band together and show that we are a credible profession and a reliable alternative to adversarial processes.

Please consider supporting it by:

  • Publicising it  on you web-site.
  • Becoming a supporter on the MAW web-site.
  • Organising or contributing to events.
  • Providing financial support and being named as a sponsor.

Help change the culture of conflict resolution.

I am Stephen G Anderson. I am a professional mediator.
